Glossary of Terms - Local4all.com | |
| "Above the fold" | Borrowed from the newspaper industry, articles appearing "above the fold" are visible when newpapers are stacked in newsracks and on bookstore shelves. A much higher value is placed on news "above the fold" because it motivates people to buy the paper to read the rest of the story. On the Internet, a different set of preferences emerge. Some business owners want to be at the top of a list all the time... It's not fair if others do not show up on the list and we randomize such lists. Being in the top 2-3 pages in a Google search is a good sign and we do well there. Getting our top rating of 10 is something our advertisers earn. Watch for |
| Advertising | Local4all.com sells business advertising in Hometown Directories as a fundraising product, aimed at helping businesses, nonprofits, and individuals simultaneously. The easy-to-use format helps all community users share accurate information in a timely manner.
|
| Agents | Self-employed persons who 1) Agree to Local4all.com Terms and Conditions for Agents, and who 2) Engage in one or more activities in promoting Local4all.com. Fundraising is enhanced when a local organizer is added to local volunteers. Agency is open to qualified persons without discrimination. Compensation for Agents is a percentage of sales volume including renewals. See a1.local4all.com for more details. |
| Classes | Local4all.com will provide online classes free of charge through which Agents will increase their understanding of Local4All.com products, learn how those products apply to local businesses, and qualify Agent to earn a higher percentage of their personal sales. Agents are not limited in the number of nonprofit organizations they can work with to generate more sales. Agents may choose to make their own compensation a lower percentage of sales as a way to avoid income limits associated with some benefits programs, also as a way to recognize and reward volunteer organizations that do most of the work. |
| Community Links | A catchall phrase, these links may represent hobbyists, non-profits, for-profits, schools, or literally any page on the Internet, including our own content. Community Links can be found within ads, coupons, event details, and in news stories. Some Community Links are shortcut URLs generated when data is accepted by our database system. Shortcut URLs are easy to pass along by phone and in print. Keeping a "cheat sheet" in your wallet, purse, or desk drawer is an excellent idea if you have more than two or three. |
| Fundraising | Local4all.com provides local pages for free to support community information-sharing and will share revenue from advertising sales with Agents and Recipient Organizations. |
| Guarantee | Local4All.com's Guarantee is that a business customer ("Customer") will recognize enough value in our Online Brochures, Hometown Links, and community support, they will NOT want their money back... Customers will want their advertising to continue uninterrupted. If a Customer for either Online Brochure or Hometown Links is dissatisfied and requests money back within 90 days of purchase, Local Dot Com, Inc. dba Local4All.com will refund 100% of Customer's purchase price up to the amount paid. Certain rules apply: |

| Recipient Organizations | Although a business can support any organization when buying a Hometown Directory listing, those nonprofits who have registered for our fundraising program have the advantage of being promoted on our website during the registration process. The confirmation page cautions businesses that contributions to some nonprofits may not be tax deductible. If unsure of the correct IRS status at tax time, the business can list the contribution as an advertising expense. |
| Shortcuts | Also called 'shortcut URLs' in Local4All.com, these are short, easy-to-remember website addresses where the only thing that changes is the prefix (i.e., a2, n2, and b2 become a2.local4all.com, b2.local4all.com, and n2.local4all.com respectively) See www.local4all.com/cb.html#shortcuts for more examples. Any zip code plus ".local4all.com" goes directly to that community's local page. |
| Site Map | Typically, the most comprehensive page in a website with links to other pages, sometimes in a heirarchy of categories and subcategories. Our sitemap contains links to selected stories, all FAQ documents, forms, and more. A link is located in the top navigation bar to make it easily accessible. |
| Terms and Conditions for Agents | Terms and Conditions for Agents: This specific document MUST be agreed to before an Agent will receive compensation. Registration of agents requires that we receive a Social Security number (US) or equivalent tracking number (other than US) so that earned income can be reported to appropriate agencies. In the US, income is reported via IRS 1099 forms. Information collected about Agents will only be used internally for its intended purpose, externally only as needed to comply with Federal guidelines and law enforcement agencies. Terms and Conditions for Organizations in Fundraising: This document details the steps a registered non-profit organization (Recipient Organization) must complete for funds to be properly disbursed to treasurers of such organizations, if and when businesses send money directly to Local4All.com. Best practices include having an audit trail separate from money transfers; registration is thorough, yet simplified so that Volunteers and Agents can start the process and assist their counterparts in completing online requirements. |
| Volunteer(s) | Any person who helps spread the word about Local4all.com Opportunities or helps someone take advantage of them. |
